So last night, my two step-daughters decided it would be a good idea to, while playing with my one year-old in one of their bedrooms, jump onto the bed. Unfortunately, there was a little issue with the placement of one girls knee and the other one's tooth.
That's right, due to a lack of thinking things through, one of my step-daughters hit her mouth on my other step-daughters knee causing one to lose half of one of her front permanent teeth and the other to almost have to get stitches on her knee.
We bandaged and cleaned up the knee wound ( gotta love Steri-strips and butterfly bandages!) and took the other to the dentist today. She will need a full blown root canal (happening now) and then in two weeks a temporary crown and then two weeks after that her permanent crown.
Lesson learned? LOL We will just have to wait and see. The thing is that under normal circumstances these two girls are very good and considerate to others. I can't fault them for wanting to play with my son; their brother. I just hope that, at least for "Toothy", the thought of having to go through another root canal and two crown installations will be enough of a deterrent to think twice about horse-play and fooling around in the house...
I love them to death and I am sure that I did stupid stuff when I was their age (in fact I know I did). This pain and discomfort will have to be punishment enough for the both of them.
